Mostar is a town in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is also known as 'a place where East meets West'. The explanation for this statement is to be found in its turbulent history and rich culture. The symbol of Mostar and its most popular sight is the Old bridge (Stari most), which connects two banks of the river Neretva, two worlds, East and West. The importance of Mostar Old bridge with its historic core, is recognized by UNESCO, which put the area on the list of world heritage sites. From both sides of the Mostar Old bridge, there are picturesque streets that remind Ottoman times. At first glance, the Ottoman influence is mostly present in Mostar's Old town architecture, but the one that you could appreciate the most should be discovered in local food.
A day trip to Mostar also includes a visit to Počitelj, another Ottoman shaped settlement from the 15th century.
